This 10×14 painting of water colors and goauche was inspired by photos a friend of mine took at the 9/11 memorial in Pennsylvania for the Flight United 93 this past summer. These are my version of the wildflowers that are growing in the field of the crash site. While painting this, as I do with all of my works, I listen to the music of Collective Soul and this song and its lyrics just hit home for me. “Yeah you give up some days, when the tears they must flow. But God is always your strength, the only strength that you know….Yeah you questioned this life, sure you wondered ‘bout love. But you swear there’s always hope, always hope from above….”
After all of the devastation that touched all of our lives on that horrid day, hope does grow in many forms and in this instance, in the form of wildflowers.
