Thisis a picture by Karen Helgesen which she graciously allowed me to paint. I tried to capture the mists in the distance over the Fall or Winter sea off the Cape! Hope you like it Karen.

I love the classic home and the unusual, interesting composition with the street light right in the middle.

I started drawing for my son, who was fascinated with it as a child. I took a few classes in colored pencil and watercolor and found the company to be exceptional, and have loved the art world since.

This is beautiful! You’ve captured the charm of the Cape and did my image proud! Excellent piece! Thank you so much for the honor of painting one of my favorite places!

  • Thank you Karen. I am so glad that you like it. I trimmed up the roses a bit,
(if that is what they are). It is so classic a scene for New England. Could be anywhere from Connecticut to Maine or one of the islands.

    Such a beautiful painting Marriet,,,,love it,,,,Rick

  • Thank you Rick. As I said up above, the original was Karen Helgesens. I liked it so much I asked her if I could paint it. Imagine having a home sitting on a bluff overlooking the sea? That is a little bit of heaven to me!

Stunning lightness to your Fabulous work Maryann , I love the negative space you leave in all your Art , Amazing work my friend . Wow ….Your so kind , I’m delighted you enjoyed my Garbo .

  • You are always too generous with your praise. I guess that is why you are so popular! ")
I think Greta was often portrayed as distant and maybe a little cold. That your portrait overcame this was important to me. She was warmer and more beautiful.
