Online Photo Storage
My sister is travelling overseas and would love to know what site she can upload her digital photos to for safe storage, then on returning to Australia she can download them all for sorting and printing.
Ive been researching and found Shutterfly and Photobucket, but they dont mention getting them back off at hi-res. Any thoughts on https://www.mediamax.com ?
Thanks, Marnie

I haven’t used it, but some people suggest Picasa. I don’t know about downloading.
Google Picasa. It is also part of google. Just a thought.

thanks Noel, just looked at it…very handy service Picasa has, however my sister will be using internet cafes round europe to upload so requires a browser set up rather than a program.

hmm – smugmug, pbase or photobucket could do the job – the problem is the amount of data you have to transmit – could be gigabytes which could take hours.
Surely there are places out there that could take a memory card and copy the contents to a couple of DVD’s? (I’m just not sure where they would be)

Unfortunately I had to save all mine to CDRW. Was a hassle carting them around but at least I knew I had them.

Yeah I’m thinking that a DVD option is safest and quick. Tammi can then post them home, wait until we recieve them then delete her memory card.

2 copies – one to post one to carry – a cd/dvd wallet to store them in.

Why dont you tell her to get one of those portable storage devices?... I cant remember what exactly they are called.
Even an Ipod will hold images, just get one with a massive memory.
You can download high-res images from Photobucket, you just may need to purchase a ‘pro’ account to do so.

Hi Marnie, how are you? The best option 4 online storage is Windows live Skydrive – 5GB free space accessable anywhere via hotmail. (50MB upload blocks – best to zip multiple files) The best free option. Xdrive on AOL is also available with 5GB storage.
