Wide angle interior view of the rotunda captured with a Canon 5D Mark II.

This is the interior view of the 272-foot high, 52 million pound dome of the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg, PA. It is best viewed from the base of the grand marble staircase by laying on the cobblestone and mosaic covered floor.

The Capitol building was designed by architect Joseph Miller Huston and officially opened on October 4, 1906. The previous building was destroyed by fire in 1897.

It was added to National Register of Historic Places in September 1906. NRHP Reference #: 77001162
