Lunch Special
Embankment Station, London.
Canon eos 450D
Accompanying poem by Ainsley
Cruel World
I’m laying down on concrete
I’ve not enough to eat
Mere inches from a deli
I’m smelling something sweet.
Inside the others nourish
Their bodies as I cry
Can anybody spare some change?
Not watch me as I die.
I am a human being
Just like the lot of you
I had a family at one time
Did not know if you knew.
Since now I’m lost and drifting
Alone in God’s cruel world
No shelter here to comfort me
On asphalt I am curled.
So step over me or ‘round me
Avert your eyes from mine
I am the face of poverty
At the end of this world’s line.

Very nice shot, Mark :-)) I really like the treatment on this one, too.
I seriously hope that you are still pursuing the plan of that calendar of which the proceeds would go toward a local welfare project/organization of your choice (you’ll be needing at least 13 related images) ...
Good to see such talent being put to constructive use!

I am revisiting this image, and read the peice Ainsley wrote, it made me shudder Avert your eyes from mine
I am the face of poverty
At the end of this world’s line. Skillful prose to an emotive and speaking peice of photographic journalism.

Thank you so much my friend
Marguerite Foxon
Great shot with touch of humor in the posters … pathos though, and in B&W its really powerful.
Mark Tull replied
Thank you Marguerite…
the posters arn’t supposed to look like that, was joking with a friend on here (Alixzandra) about signatures on our work, as this image was chosen to headline a video for a homeless charity, and stuck my name on them as a joke, however, it wasn’t supposed to go public….
Mark Tull replied
Marguerite, here’s a LINK to the video, Alixzanda has a piece in it too, enjoy :o)
