There’s something about the result of this bit of phot art that reminds me very much of an old storybook illustration, which is what led me to the title, 1001 Nights.
The basis of this image is a photo from my 2007/2008 trip to Egypt. The pyramid in this photo is the last of the pyramids built on the Giza Plateau, the tomb of Pharaoh Menkaure. I know it’s a trite thing to say, but the pyramids were simply amazing. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Even if I should make it back to Egypt one day, there will be no way to recapture that feeling of seeing them for the first time.
There are many textural layers added to this to achieve the final piece of art. This is the first installment in my 365 days of Art challenge. It’s ironic because I certainly don’t expect to churn out 365 pieces of real art, but I quite liked the result of my first night and was moved to finally post it.
