The title of this piece is actually a bit of a joke. I took a tour bus with a rather interesting guide. There was a road block and she ended up on streets for which she had nothing prepared to say. Flustered she uttered, this is… this is… generic New York.
For the rest of my trip, this was how I addressed scenes like this, places that made me think of New York but were not per se somewhere special. To me though, I would call it quintessential New York City, from the tall buildings of varying ages to the huge water tanks, life in the Big Apple.
It took me some time to finally locate this spot. What threw me off was that after I took this photo, the Papaya King that was on the ground floor of this building moved. For New Yorkers or anyone dying to know, this is the corner of 7th Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan.
