This structure is part of the world heritage site, the Mayan city of Chichen-Itza, also one of the new seven wonders of the world.
This is the Temple of the Jaguars, the rear of which faces the great ball court at Chichen-Itza, one of 8 in the ancient Maya City, but the largest in all of mesoamerica. It’s believed that this platform is the site of the ritual sacrifices which were part of the games.
