Dark Tor
This is the top of Glastonbury Tor. There are many legends associated with the tor. Prominent among them, in the Arthurian legends, Glastonbury is often considered to be the fabled Avalon. In ancient times, the tor would have been an island in a marshy land, but it was later drained and now the Tor rises out of the village of modern day Glastonbury.
The tower on the top is the remains of a 14th century church that was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539. The tower is all that remains of that church and was restored in modern times.
