Shadows on The Sahara

Shadows on The Sahara

I had this image in my head well before I ever found myself on the back of a camel. The fact is, I hadn’t thought I would be on the camel when I took it!

If it was listed in the itinerary that we would watch the sun set on the sands of the mighty Sahara, I missed it. But there I was, there was my shadow, and I managed to let go of the saddle long enough to get what I think is a really classic view.

I don’t know that I will ever find myself in Egypt again, and even if I do, the magic will never be the same.

This is what Egypt is all about. Fantastic capture Mark, and it’s so great that you got to experience it, as well as capture it beautifully! Awesome

where was David Lean? as this surely is out of “Lawrence of Arabia.” my question is, are you Omar Sherif, or Peter O’Toole? lovely work Mark. great that you envisioned the shot beforehand.

  • Mark Tisdale replied

Thanks James! I’m more often reactionary in my photos, but my favorites are always the ones that I have some idea of what I want before hand. What others like is all over the boards! LOL!

This is a grabbing image…quite beautifully captured..I can feel the warmth of the atmosphere in the setting desert sun. I’ve also taken my life into my own hands getting a a picture on the back of a camel before..but sooo worth it for the shot (I’m not a photographer, just on a holiday with my husband in Morocco).
