Well Worn Roads
The pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx have been visited for thousands of years, literally.
The pyramid on the right (relative to the viewer) is the pyramid of Pharaoh Khafre. The best guess at this time is that the face of the Sphinx was his. It’s believed the clearing of land for his pyramid exposed the large rock the Sphinx was carved from. This was done to decorate what would have otherwise been an otherwise ordinary rock near his pyramid.
To the left, appearing quite small here, is the last pyramid constructed at Giza, the tomb of Menkaure.

timeless work. difficult to put a fresh face on a really old subject, but you have balanced the objects in the frame with a good dynamic tension of shapes and light. well done.

I’m glad you think so James! That’s definitely the risk one takes of photographing something so well known. It’s probably impossible to find an angle that either someone hasn’t though of before or they haven’t roped off for one reason or another!

Again I really like the tone and composition. What an incredible place to see… The shot itself captures the richness of the history of Egypt.
