Memories Remain
The last of the three major pyramids at Giza is the pyramid for Pharaoh Menkaure. After this, the building of pyramids at the Giza plateau stopped – in fact, it’s believed this pyramid was completed after the Pharaoh’s death.
From this vantage point, the pyramid seems lost and alone against the backdrop of the land and sky.
It’s amazing to bear witness to the works of men who lived and died, like we all will, 4,000 years ago.

A fascinating and dramatic capture. I admire the way you’ve shot this with thos strong lines running through the foreground towards the pyramid. I wonder if that was a sand storm brewing in the distance?

beautiful image – love the way the ground is sweeping away from us and leads us right up to the pyramid – gorgeous colours and love the contrasts of the sky against the ground.

Love this Mark. I love the loneliness of this. The colours are amazing and the sense of history makes it so much more imposing.

Most of it I can owe to our great local guide at the pyramids, but I’m glad I retained awhile at least!
Thanks!

Glad you like it. I fear it was more pollution than sandstorm, but maybe I’m wrong!

Deborah, I’m terribly late saying so, but thanks – so glad you liked. It was my last real shot of the pyramids before we went down to see the Sphinx. I’m glad I made it count!
