This Is Genkin Looking At You With Those Baby Blues by

Genkin’s a handsome Staffordshire Terrier mix that’s just been processed into NYC’s animal adoption/shelter. He has such a big heart, you can hear it beating. Click once on his photo to enlarge.

Something catches my eye and I photograph it, always with the intention of reworking it into something I can call my own. My thinking: It’s not what you look at that matters but what it is you see and how you see it. That’s what matters. That’s how the artist shines through.

Another great dog shot. How do you get them to pose? Lighting is superb too!

  • Thanks for your support and appreciation Fraser. To get them to pose, I carry on like a complete fool; try any and everything I can think of in order to get their brief, very brief attention, lol! This time I brought along some tasty grilled chicken and after letting them sniff it, then held it by the lens and it was the chicken they actually were looking at. Look at these pics again with that in mind and you can now see why they’re so fixated, hehe. The lighting is a flash unit atop my camera with diffusion and lots of PS tools to create something like studio lighting.

well he has great restraint! Most dogs would have gobbled down the chicken , camera and licked all your fingers clean :)
    Cute!

  • He’s too cute for words to express! He was barely able to constrain himself. I’m a pretty decent cook you know!

Such a beautiful guy! You really captured his kind face and those wonderful baby blues!

  • Well if he was to have any chance of getting that grilled chicken, he had to show a little patience and he had to know that, lol! Thanks for your beautiful thoughts.

Congradulations on your Feature with this beautiful blue eyed boy! That’s not too common with this breed. So he is pretty rare! Great catch of him. And I see he has patience or there wouldn’t be any picture…or any chicken. LOL There is a group on here called The APBT (American Pit Bull Terriers) Lovers Group that I’m sure would love to see this guy. They take APBT’s, Am Staffs, Staffy Bulls, or anything that is mixed with any of them. There is also another great group called Paws and Claws that would love him too. Great catch!!

  • Oh thank you Ginny. That’s so kind of you to steer me to these other groups. I’ll join them right away. A big thank you for your remarks and for your fave!

What a gorgeous dog. I love Staffs….They have such caring hearts. They have bad names and can be a rough dog, but treated well, they are the best pet. I am so glad you came to Paws n Claws…we love to see the shelter dogs and we all pray they find a good caring home. A great capture~~of the beautiful guy! Keep them coming…

Hi neighbor! Thank you for such a warm welcome and positive comment. I would be happy to take you up on your generous offer to continue submitting work. Besides, we want the world to know something of these beautiful creatures, many of whom have never enjoyed the “good life.” Watkins Glen… I used to go to the formula one races there a long time ago! That was fun!
