This looks like my baby Kuba, She is a complete water hound lol, actually I should say water retriever lol

  • Mark Ross replied

Every time I would go down to the bay beach, this fella would be sitting there like this, alone! I never knew why. Maybe he just wanted for somebody, anybody, to come along and throw something out into the water so he could fetch it. I dunno!

  • pixie3

    pixie3

Oh yeah they want to play in the water…. I swear sometimes you can read their expressions and it is saying “come on just throw the stick, throw the stick” lol Animals are great lol

  • Mark Ross replied

Yes they are! I believe they are all angels, not in the biblical sense but in the spiritual sense. They are about goodness and all things wholesome and natural. They don’t have a bad bone in their bodies, not a one! We learn much from them when we care for them. They are teachers by an unspoken language.

I don’t think I could have said it any better. This is so true. Animals are trusting, loving, and so wanting to be loved. We are very lucky to experience having them in our lives. Thank you for yacking at me.

  • Mark Ross replied

You’re welcome! It’s a pleasure talking with you, really.

Good one Mark, theres that whimsy again !

  • Mark Ross replied

I know what you’re saying Anthony. For me, it would be overkill to do it all the time so I fight the temptation to do so. But I really am attracted to whimsy and humour. I mean, we’re surrounded by it and I just happen to see it even in the most unobvious of places! Thanks for your great comments. I really enjoy what you have to say.

She looks as if she has been siting there for quiet a while – the water around her is realatively still. This is what makes this photo/artwork look surreal to me. Love it

  • Mark Ross replied

Great comment. Thanks Paul. This fella would sit there all day it seemed. Whenever you happened by this little beach on the bay, he’d be sitting right there in that same spot… waiting…

    Mark,
You captured the beauty and elegance of this stunning dog. The serenity and peace in the background sets the mood for this amazing image. It evokes feelings of my devotion and respect for these beautiful souls. I live in Los Angeles and when I lived in Malibu, I would body surf with my Irish and English Setters. At first glance, I thought this was an amazing portrait of an Irish Setter. There is a spiritual feeling in your touching photograph viewing this sentient animal who certainly is in his element. i posted two images on RB of my Irish Setter Jesse after I rescued her from a pet store after she was abused in a puppy mill starving and frightened of people. Her eyes tell the story after many months of earning the trust of this frightened and very sensitive spirit. Your image and mood of your photo reminds me of her, especially since she would sit for hours on the beach looking at the sea in what appeared to be a meditative state. She loved to retrieve, but also needed quiet time to appreciate the beautiful environment and sounds of the crashing waves. This strikes a deep chord on many levels about how special our canine friends are who commit their lives devoted to our welfare. Looking at this image, it is unbearable to think of how our species has mistreated and abused animals without a second thought about how cruelty and neglect destroys their spirit before millions are euthanized in kill shelters. As Andy Rooney said, “the average dog is nicer than the average person.” “To err human, to forgive canine.” I look forward to viewing more of your portfolio. I am the host of the group on RB, the healing journey and viewing your lovely photo is a therapeutic experience.

    Hi Julie,
    What a lovely letter this is. I believe I savored your every word and am in sync with your every sentiment. It’s very gratifying knowing a work of mine can be meaningful to someone else and be told of what that meaning is. And so, I want to thank you from my heart for offering up such warmth and openness with this letter of appreciation. You must be a kind and empathetic person to feel the way you do about animals and what they must endure at the hands of others who look like us but aren’t anything like us. In any case, it’s a pleasure hearing from you. Perhaps we will speak again. Smiles to ‘ya! :7}

This is such a great shot. It conveys so much. On one hand it is cute and funny, and then kind of sad. Like you mentioned, all dogs want is someone to throw the ball for them, and yet most of us are too ‘busy’ to do something this simple that would make them so happy. Keep up the great work.

  • Mark Ross replied

Thanks Larry. I agree with your analysis here. I have 5 cats and I’m always so busy that they don’t get much of my time. Maybe they don’t even want it, I dunno. LOL.

  • Mark Ross replied

Well from my experience, if you’re an animal lover, you’re probably going to enjoy animal pictures. We all seem to fall into that kind of thing, right? I know I love them, especially the funny ones! Thanks for your comment Anthony.
