what a remarkable piece… it’s like a still action shot.. love the way you search for faces in this image!

  • Mark Ross replied

For a moment, I had to think what you meant by still action but… I got it! That’s an interesting phrase Paul. You always have something insightful to say. Thanks for responding. Always great to hear from you!

  • Mark Ross replied

Thanks for your comment. That’s an interesting take on it! BTW/this isn’t a painting, it’s a photograph. I’m not sure that’s really clear.

Wow! Excellent imaging and color. Looks set back a few hundred years!?

  • Mark Ross replied

I think it’s the hooded figure(s) in particular that give it a monastic appeal although there are some other figures with skull caps that add to the impression as well. In any case, thanks so much for your comments Stephanie!

At first it appears you’re illustrating Danté, Mark, although I’m uncertain which of his levels you’ve presented. You’ve captured such a sense of wriggling… which isn’t particularly simple in this media of ours without a time dimension. Clever work, but more importantly it’s evocative. So I’m off to evoke.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Ted

Glad to evoke Ted. Just be careful while you’re at it! We need smart shooters like you to stay fit and healthy and let’s not forget alive. So evoke but evoke carefully. It’s a pleasure to joust with you and I also don’t mind looking at your photographs. You’re a fresh breeze blowing into town my man. Glad your on board the rb boat.

I don’t know how you did this, and the main thing that amazes me about your pf is the versatility. It’s like you’re constantly raising the bar on your own technical ability, and that for me puts you in the class of the very best artists here on RB.

Apart from the awesome colors and composition, the effect you achieved here is so totally original and a breath of fresh air in a place where we think we’ve just about seen it all. Kudos for raising the bar!

  • Mark Ross replied

Wow, you’ve got my number billyboy! But, I would agree with you on what you say, in that I am trying to raise the bar (my own bar that is) and do something new and different if only because that, for me, is what creativity should be about, that’s my own personal definition of what an artist really does. Thank you for your heartfelt and insightful remarks. They are like mana from heaven.

Such an amazing piece, love the sense of movement and glimpses of faces – it does feel like its another time & place, medievil maybe :)

See the hooded figure in front and the white scull-capped figure near top center. I think they are responsible for what it is you sense is another time & place, especially the medievil feeling you speak of. I take no credit for them; they were just there at that moment.
