Paul Vanzella
Such an extraordinary image… almost like dappled paint strokes make up this image… love the strength of colour and framing of this piece!
Mark Ross replied
Paul, you’re a saint! Your comments are so thoughtful and gracious! I can’t thank you enough for your creative/constructive input. I value it highly. Glad you like.
Kitsmumma
Gorgeous series Mark and I agree with Paul, looks like brush strokes, wonderful.

A big “thank you” to you too Sylvia! You’ve been wonderfully considerate with your comments. I can’t thank you enough. I also enjoy hearing from you very much.
Mel Brackstone
My goodness, I could lose myself in this forest. What a gorgeous scene.
Mark Ross replied
Thanks so much Mel! Very nice of you to say so. I actually did get lost in this forrest, well at least for about 30 seconds, hehe!

Mark Ross replied
Hey there big guy! If you can’t come to the forrest, then the forrest will come to you. Just thinking, we artists are like mini film producers. We bring you our creations and hope they draw you into the atmosphere we’ve endeavored to create. The reception we receive tells the story.
Thanks as always Wayne and the best to you good buddy!

Outstanding work. I really can’t tell if it is a photograph or an oil painting.
Mark Ross replied
Well, I call it an oilgraph. Just kidding. It may seem strange being a photographer but I really have little interest in photography per se. Too much realism for me! I was schooled in painting from a very tender age and though I gave it up when quite young, I still seem to be pursuing it afterall. What I want to do is to make images that possess their own sense of self/identity and not that of anything else in particular, like a photograph. There should be some sense of inigma as to what you’re looking at. That for me is part and parcel of that “special” thing an artist should try and bring to their work. All said, thank you so much for your appreciation.
Janis Zroback
Astoundinig…I think I may have painted this..incredible image…
Mark Ross replied
Do you mean you did a painting that this reminds you of or did you actually paint “The Pines?” Thank you so much for your compliment!
Janis Zroback
I have paintings here that are similar in topic in my RB portfolio…
Mark Ross replied
Oh, then I must look at them! Tomorrow I will do that. Thanks for responding.
Joe Mortelliti
has a great painterly feel
Mark Ross replied
That’s pretty much what I do with the majority of my work, Joe. I like to reduce the detailed hyper-reality that’s inherently built into photography by what I call repixelization, so that what you wind up with then is a horse of a different color. So photography for me is a jumping off point rather than an end in itself. Anyway, thanks for your complimentary observation. It’s music to my ears!
aila

Liv Stockley
Tried to create images with similar view to this but never succeeded so hats off to you, this is excellent :-))
Mark Ross replied
Thanks Liv. I’ve done a lot of trees and never thought too well of most of the work. This is a series of three I did the same day and for the life of me could never repeat or equal. So maybe it’s just a matter of odds. You do it til you get it right and then move on. I dunno. -Mark :7}
