What an amazing effect.. this is fantastic, it looks almost like a painting but not quite… I love it.

  • Mark Ross replied

Thank you! And I was afraid to post this for fear maybe no one would like it! What crazy thoughts we have sometimes.

    April Mansilla

I love this …so much life and the location is perfection!! art inside and out!!

  • Mark Ross replied

Thanks a lot April. This is one of a great many studies I’ve done on the hustle and bustle of crowds. New York’s a perfect place in which to do this. I’m very pleased to know you like it.

  • Tony Ryan

    Tony Ryan

Once again these look so surreal. Well done Mark.

  • Mark Ross replied

Thanks again Tony! This kind of work doesn’t come easy. There’s a lot of experimentation to work thru and all you have to go on is a vague idea of what you want.

Mark, Really loved the pic…quite unique…Sally xxoo

  • Mark Ross replied

Hi Sally. When you push for something new and different, you go it alone so it’s tremendously gratifying when some kindred soul out there applauds you for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m so very pleased you like it!

This is so wonderful. You brought to life “the crowd.” Their movement is palpable -beautiful work. I know these steps well, so thanks, too, for the memorable glimpse.

  • Mark Ross replied

Glad to oblige you rubes. Sounds like you haven’t been to these steps for a long time. Happy you appreciate this image, really. I’ve done a lot of exploration within this framework of people and movement. This is one of my most favored images. It began with a very profound influence, “Nude Descending A Staircase” by Marcel DuChamps.

Love the feel of movement & the way people are busy going about doing there own thing in there own direction.

  • Mark Ross replied

Me too! That’s what’s interesting about this subject. Thanks Glenn, for your keen comment. Much appreciated.

  • Susan Trigg

    Susan Trigg

    Wonderful effect you’ve achieved here!

  • Mark Ross replied

I’ve got this in my living room framed with a wide blond wood frame. It’s printed at 30”x40” which in metrics would be just over 1 meter in length. This is how you should see it at its best. I wish you could. Anyhow, thanks for the compliment! Very nice of you.

Lucky you, being able to visit the Met whenever you like! I was in NY a couple of years ago (first visit there) and was so looking forward to visiting the museum, partly because it has some very famous tapestries. I had planned to spend the day there before we flew out to return home – unfortunately I didn’t realise that it was closed on a Monday :( Maybe one day I will make it there!

  • Mark Ross

    Mark Ross

I hope you do make it. It’s an awesome museum and if you want to see something from their permanent collection, well you just have to visit it there! Thanks for writing again Susan!

    Brilliant work Mark, so creative.

  • Mark Ross replied 19 days ago

I was inspired to do some serious work on movement and crowds when I did this. A lot of work poured out of me at that time. I only wish it was this way all the time Wayne. Thanks so much for your fine comments all around!
