This one is really nice too, how is the background blotchiness/speckling achieved? Just with eraser?

  • Thanks, Bart. First layer of this drawing was a light rubbing or dry blotting and lifting of charcoal dust- Gives me a place to start, mostly, and what remains when the focal elements are done becomes the beginnings of the background. Needs a lot of filling and smoothing at that stage; most of that’s stippling where darker’s needed with charcoal or graphite pencil, and lifting with a kneaded eraser shaped to a sharp point where lightening’s needed. Add a little, take a little away, repeat :) Links to WIPs and comments on my site’s About The Drawings page:

when if first look at a piece of art, it is my first feeling I attempt to put into words, in leaving a comment , with this your "song at the heart of silence " the feeling was one of an almost gentle and quite , rising orgasmic sensation , like the one you get when working out in the gym on certain equepment , sort of like an aaooowww, silent sound ,

  • Wow. Made my day. Much appreciated!

Congrats again, stunning, incredible and so very… well have to shrink myself and put on my cloak of invisibility….and jump in and explore!

  • Exploration and discovery are a big part of the process for me- without, it’d get pretty boring :) I’ve always liked art that’s layered, allows viewers to continue to find more as well. Again, thanks for your generous comments, and glad you’ve enjoyed!
