The Crescent Tail Bigeye (Priacanthus hamrur) is a member of the fish family Priacanthidae which includes the ‘Squirrelfishes’ and ‘Bigeyes fishes’. This species can be found living on the tropical coral reefs of the Indo-western Pacific region and occurs from depths of 10 metres down to at least 250 metres. This species varies in colour from red to silver and occasionally can be seen with about 6 red bars or large spots. This fish is best identified by its crescent tail and it is considered to be a solitary species that lives under coral heads or ledges. The Crescent Tail Bigeye (Priacanthus hamrur) grows to a amximum length of approximately 40cm.
