The F-16 Solo Display Team is based at Volkel Air Base in the Dutch province of North Brabant and consists of the pilot, two instructors and seven ground crew. The members of the team are always seconded from a squadron of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The 2009 pilot, Kapitein (Flight Lieutenant) Ralph (Sheik) Aarts, flies with 313 Squadron of the 1st Fighter Wing. What differentiates the RNLAF F16 demo team from some other display teams is that all members are current operational military personnel and besides the demo team work they still perform operational business and deploy.

The Dutch F16 demo team will move to another squadron and or base every two years, season 2007-2009 being the exception. Since 2005 the demo team has been established at Volkel airbase. In 2010 the team, after 5 years, will consist out of members of the operational squadrons at Leeuwarden airbase. They will take over the Orange F-16, J-015, and continue on the road paved for them by the Volkel teams.

The F-16 Solo Display Team was established in September 1979 with the first demonstration of an RNLAF F-16 during an air show at Twente Air Base (now Enschede Airport Twente) and has since performed at air shows in European countries and, in 2006, at Edwards Air Force Base in the United States.

The F-16 Solo Display Team has no single colour scheme but instead has adopted various liveries since its inception. The present orange colour scheme was unveiled in April 2009.
