Gediminas
Gediminas, the founder of Vilnius, the Capital of Lithuania. He was a cosmopolitan who opened the gates of the city to everybody, regardless of nationality, race or religion. In the 14th century, Vilnius was one of the most developed cities in Europe. It had one of the first universities in Europe. Story tells that Gediminas decided to establish the city after seeing in his dream a wolf howling at the top of a hill. I have not read any explanation for this story, but my guess is that Gediminas interpreted his dream as a sign to call all kinds of people to develop a better city. In the same way as a wolf howls to gather his pack.
