17 Below

This shot was taken in a multi level car park in
Docklands – Melbourne, just before
The Fastest Colour
was shot from the top floor (18).
I love the red 17 and the yellow road marking in this eerily deserted car park.

This is so amazing Mark – has everything I love about the world in it… typography, concrete and texture, with a huge graphic edge! Love the way you have presented this, and the use of space and shapes is perfect… also has this amazing depth to it. Stunning piece of work no doubt!!!!

Thanks guys. I have always loved text and
graphic rich industrial areas and seem to be drawn to out
of the way areas no-one in their right mind would
go…but i see there are many of us here on Redbubble
so don’t feel like such a freak anymore!!
    Thanks for the comments.

Great shot love the lines and the clolurs….............Now this is all tounge in cheek and in line with all my comments on this site and i hate to be picky But is the 17 to indicate level 17??? If so the road below is too close and not in perspective to be 17 levels high its more like 5 stories high!!!! then again 12 stories may be under ground and this is the 5th story on top of the ground but still technically level 17…

  • Mark Higgins

    Mark Higgins

Yeah, I it is only about 9 storeys off the ground
but is split in two, so 1 & 2 and so on are actually
    on the same level!
A great car park and has yielded some great
shots. It is starting to get boxed in now with all
the building work going on around it.
    Thanks everyone for the comments.

You’ve managed to capture some strong graphic elements which work together to form a strong composition and add plenty of interest… I also like the extra depth created in the background and the repetition of arrows… well seen Mark!

What a great image! I love the textures and colors. I, too, am a sucker for typography and industrial scenes, and this is about as perfect a mix as they come. Well done!

Inspirational image… The shadow just gels this image for me… I was imagining it without it and I feel it would have ben lacking. The knife like edge lineates the perspective and is reminiscent of a door perhaps?... Deserted carparks are captivating and so unseen by the main… Thanks Mark for an image that just stirs the mind.

Thanks for the kind words peter and yes this carpark is my fave haunt in Melbourne. Car Parks hold a fascination, particularly this one.
Hope you enjoy the print, if indeed it was you that bought it ;)
    Thanks again, appreciate it.
