Glasgow, Scotland, 2005.

A bit of a rework of an image that was originally created as part of a quadtych series – “Vanishing Point (#’s1-4)” – entered into the Nikon Summer Salon back in 2004 – (now called the Kodak Salon). Was beside myself – read; totally friggin stoked! when the series was awarded – “Best Digital Photomedia Work”

The Kodak Salon is now Australia’s largest open entry photomedia exhibition held at The Centre for Contemporary Photography, Fitzroy, Melbourne.

I only started shooting in 2004, and always with Canon, so I’m not likely to have entered a Nikon salon Mark. I hadn’t heard of it till your mention here!

  • Mel…your photography work is outstanding, obviously a natural talent I think, and I cannot believe that you only picked up a camera seriously 5 years ago! As for the show..Nikon was the major sponsor for awhile, now its Kodak, hence the name Kodak Salon, but there are no requirements that one produces work using their branded cameras or film. FYI for next year perhaps…

I like work that highlights the idea that we are being watched as I believe that it is important that we keep on plugging away about a free and democratic world to live in…great pic

  • slight delay…cheers Dave

this should be a cover for george orwell’s 1984. imagery is wonderfully controlled. every move, every second captured.

  • As an alternative title for this image I like that…1984. Cheers Zaldy…forgive the late reply mate
