Thanks shawhouse for your comments and picking up on the details. I know what you mean…sometimes you can really kick yourself for shying away from what could have been a great shot. I guess you have to weigh up each encounter or circumstance. In this case my fear took a backseat to my fascination with the subject, and luckily he was impressed with the result too!

Absolutely, appeal to their vanity and hope for the best. I’ve got enough missed kodak moments burned into my retinas to fill a gallery. Just shot in Las Vegas, got some stuff I’m happy enough with, but I’ll keep replaying Starbucks, starring Elvis and Priscilla impersonators, their frappuccinos, shawhouse and his TWO dead batteries. grrr…

sometimes when the unexpected occurs it can make an amazing shot. i think that the narrative here is stronger due to the expression on his face. a shot of him smiling wouldn´t have been as effective as the narrative would have been confusing.. very well done.

Why is danger so sexy? I like it in a photo but not in my life.
This is one very sexy “gentleman” and you caught him well.
I also want to send some kudos to his tat artist who is quite good at using the body as a canvas. That piercing really works well with his body art. This man is a work of violent art.
