Streetfighter

This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

Big fan of tattoo photographs, in fact busy with a book! This is fantastic, also like that he is looking straight into camera, a frown etched on his forhead and his mouth slightly open. Nice one!

Yes, the guy and tatts are beautiful, but it’s also the colours for me- with the wall behind and the beads…just an intense combination all round. Wow…were you brave or….?

wonderful portrait. .ballsy. I’ve walked away from gems like this. never again! you’ve inspired me to risk life and limb :) I love that Che is peeking out there. what I keep going back to in this image are the little half moons in his eyes. great work.

Thanks shawhouse for your comments and picking up on the details. I know what you mean…sometimes you can really kick yourself for shying away from what could have been a great shot. I guess you have to weigh up each encounter or circumstance. In this case my fear took a backseat to my fascination with the subject, and luckily he was impressed with the result too!

Absolutely, appeal to their vanity and hope for the best. I’ve got enough missed kodak moments burned into my retinas to fill a gallery. Just shot in Las Vegas, got some stuff I’m happy enough with, but I’ll keep replaying Starbucks, starring Elvis and Priscilla impersonators, their frappuccinos, shawhouse and his TWO dead batteries. grrr…
