“It knows when you are sleeping,
It knows when you’re awake,
It knows if you’ve been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake…”
Everybody has a dark side, it must be there in order to balance the more positive attributes of the psyche.
Like an opportunistic virus, it wanders the darkest recesses of our minds, waiting, listening, looking and anticipating a momentary weakness, sudden rage or hesitation so that it can leap to the fore. There is no escaping our dark side, the trick is to recognise and control it.
In this image I have used the ancient symbolism of “All seeing, all knowing”, the hand with the eye.
I have given it spider-like legs to emphasise it’s incidious movement in the darkest recesses of the psyche, represented by the old pipework and rubble.
I purposely shot it so that the eye is straight on to the viewer, giving the impression that is always follows you.
