Portrait of a Belgian horse
One of a small herd of draft horses, this impressive animal is caught here in profile in peaceful contemplation. He is on a Mennonite farm off the Hackbart Line west of St. Jacobs, Ontario. I have photographed this horse before from his other side. In both instances, he has taken a moment away from his stable mates and struck the seemingly reflective pose I was delighted to catch here. He is, every inch, the genuine article, flies and all! In life, separated from you by a few strands of broken down fence, which seems to be enough, it is tempting to ask him his thoughts.
