Da Bass in the Hands of da Devil (cheeky!) #2 by

This is intended as a sequel to “Getting Fresh with the Band”. I was going for an image to be in extreme contrast to the other image… hi-key vs low-key, white bass vs wood bass, short hair vs long hair… I have endeavored to also mirror the hand positions. I intend for one of this latest series to form a dyptich with the original.

The finals of the whole shoot are available on my facebook page.

Shot with Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4g lense and 2 flash heads.

My interest in photography began back in high-school when I used my mother’s Olympus OM-1 to shoot sports events. I learnt to understand film, light meters and other technical issues. I bought my first SLR, a Nikon F70, when I finished uni and became more focussed on shooting portraiture, landscape and photojournalism. Since then I have not looked back opening my own business in 2009 specialising in portrait photography.

Beautiful series Mark. Great light and expression on Melia. Your original Fresh photo inspired me to experiment with musical instrument poses :)

  • Thanks John. I have been talking of doing a follow-up to that one for ages. Now I just need to decide whether there is one there that is suitable to live next to my print of Fresh that has pride of place on my apartment wall :)
