View from Garnedd Ugain
Crib Goch is a knife-edged arête in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales
The highest point on the arête is 923 m above sea level. A path leads over the arête and three rock-pinnacles to a grassy col at Bwlch Coch. This first part of the ridge is very exposed and serious, having resulted in several fatalities.
From the col the ridge rises again, joining the main Snowdon ridge via the sister peak Garnedd Ugain in the west.
On Saturday 13th September I achieved the summit of Snowdon for the third time. This time by the most difficult route climbing up to, and across, Crib Goch. Then climbing to the summit of Garnedd Ugain before the easy walk from there to Snowdons summit.
This is a view from Garnedd Ugain with Crib Goch just visable on the left.
The summit of Garnedd Ugain is only slightly lower than Snowdon itself and the walk from here to Snowdons summit is easy.
While Snowdon is always crowded this summit was very quiet, with most people crossing Crib Goch having passed a good while before.
The lake of Glaslyn, which lies at the foot of Snowdon, can be seen in the shadows bottom right and the lake in the centre of the picture is Llyn Llydaw.
While crossing Crib Goch I seriously questioned my sanity in doing this route. When I got here and saw the views it was definitely worth the effort.

Thanks for your kind words and your ‘favourite’ as well :o)
Looking down at clouds is an unbelievable experience and I was so lucky that there were enough to make the sky more interesting but not enough to block out the view.
It surprised me how much further down Crib Goch was, I hadn’t realised I’d climbed up that far from it.
I’ve actually got the day off from work on Tuesday and Graham, who I went up Snowdon with the first time, wants to go via Crib Goch as long as the weathers good.
I hope it is as I’d love to do it again, although thats not what I was thinking as I was crossing it the first time lol

Thanks Hilary.
I was most fortunate with the views. The other times I’ve climbed Snowdon Crib Goch and above have been covered in cloud so I wouldn’t have got these pictures even if I’d dared to try it in less than perfect weather.
