My favorite new antique shop find, a pair of vintage salt-and-pepper shakers made in Japan, probably late 40s or early 50s. Maybe earlier.
Message: “Let there be such oneness between us, that when one cries, the other tastes salt.”

UPDATE: I have looked for years for the source of this quote, which most references list as “anonymous”. That prolific author did NOT write it, however; it was good St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226), in a sermon about compassion for one’s fellow man.
