Light From the Past

MarjorieB

Lockport, IL, United States

Artist's Description

This pierced tin lantern is a modern recreation in a style used by French fur trappers in the 1700s in the Great Lakes region of North America. The originals held candles, naturally, rather than electric bulbs, and the light emitted would be much softer, but still significant in the dark wilderness at night.
