Yesterday I slept in late, and so I missed it. When I got to the nest, there was a sudden flurry of feathers, and three robin chicks, newly fledged, erupted from the nest and took to the air as if they were born to it—which, of course, they were. Clearly they had been practicing for several hours and had the hang of it by now. Today I went out again, and though I hear quite a lot of chirping, the babies are nowhere to be seen. Mom and Dad are keeping them well away from the crazy lady with the shiny clicky thing.
