My grandmother’s rugs kept our kitchen bright.
Braided rag rugs are traditionally made of coils braided from three strands of bias fabric. As each strand runs out, a new strand in a different color is joined in. No more than one such color change is made in each revolution. Thus the colors change subtly as the rug grows, and bands of color blend smoothly.
