While there is an abundance of Fallow deer (some claim, too many) in the Amsterdam Watersupply Dunes (between Zandvoort and Aerdenhout) there’s much more wildlife to be found there.
A white flash seen from the corner of my eye drew my attention to this little fellow, desperately but unsuccessfully trying to hide in the undergrowth – it had perfect camouflage colors, but it was its hopping that gave it away! It also was not nearly as approachable as the City crow I shot yesterday.
Shot handheld at the extreme end of my 45-200mm lens, which unfortunately doesn’t have a macro option. So I had to apply a little focusing trickery and a crop to give this nicely patterned little grasshopper at least a decent presentation here.
