Recently I made an exploratory photo walk in and around the Houthaven (Wood harbor) in Amsterdam and had a lot of fun. (Note the photos Google maps is using here are pretty outdated, since the area is under development.)
Since we’re done with the bitts now, I’ll show some other ship details, before moving on to the things lines and cables are fastened to in the land side.
Like the ladder in Ship’s ladder these steps form a way to get to a higher deck – except these are not rungs but flat steps sticking out from the hull. Not good to bridge too much height since (unlike rungs) these don’t do double duty as handholds as well as a place to put your feet on.
Also, I see an (entirely accidental) elegant letter ‘F’ in here…
