View from the American Express Building
This image was taken on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the Amex Building in New York. People were drawn to the view of the rebuilding of Ground Zero and were speaking so softly. Concurrent to the silent viewing is the incredible acitivity of rebuilding taking place in the area itself.
Originally the glass wall seen here was opaque (marble, i think) but when the repairs were made to the building the marble was removed so that people could view Ground Zero.
Shot taken with my little digital camera that i have since lost!

I really like the dark silhouettes.

This is staggering! There is such much going on…people…reflections…shadows…silhouttes…a skyscape…patterns. It’s all brought together magnificently…it’s amazing.
Paul Ryan
I agree with Phil – this is first class. It’s so clean and vivid, and pregnant with meaning.
It reminds me a little of this scene in Spike Lee’s 25th Hour where they’re in the Wall Street friend’s apartment next to Ground Zero not long after the attack and the camera pans slowly until you can see the site over their shoulders.
Can’t believe I didn’t know about this observation point when I visited in Dec.
Paul Ryan
I just made this the new group image for the New York City group.

Brilliant and dramatic
lightsmith
brilliant. The silhouetting is pure perfection. It emphasizes the outside work, and the anomynity of the viewers, yet they are still people and have action. It’s a really outstanding piece of work!
Wanagi Zable-A...
excellent shot! the silhouettes and reflections are great
billyboy
Wow Marion, this is an amazingly captured image. I love the way your silhouettes are so apparently transfixed by what they are witnessing. I will definitely check this place out next time I’m there!
