Cellist in turquoise

Cellist in turquoise

Yes, another cellist! I did so many of them for my major assignment last semester but only handed in the best ones. I liked this one too!!

Collagraph
Multi-layered print making
Arches 88 (I learnt pretty fast that Arches 88 doesn’t like to be soaked – it absorbs the water immediately and became way too malleable but it was great to use dry for relief printing and after the first couple of layers, this was all relief printing.)

Cellist in turquoise belongs to the following groups:

Abstract Art, Decorative and Traditional Art, Feminine Intent (LIMIT TWO IMAGES PER DAY), Friends of RedBubble, in-between, Layered with Texture, Light In The Darkness, Mixed Media, Printmakers and Printmaking, Shameless Self-Promotion, THE SISTERHOOD, The true beauty, Unconventional Artistry - 3 per day and Works On Paper Available for sale as

Now this is really fabulous, Marion! I absolutely love this one. Years ago I was intent on doing a series on musicians, but it never got further than one etching…...this makes me feel like getting back to that theme again.

  • Marion Chapman replied

I began this one with the same intention of completing a series of musicians but by the times i had printed and printed and printed this cellist i wanted to throw the collagraphic plates in the bin. LOL! thanks for a wonderful comment Elaine, means such a lot coming from you!!

Now this is just a touch of your genius Marion!
But the gentle blending of these soft hues is subtle, yet strong, easy on the eye and strong where needed, with those lines giving it shape and form, direction and definition which would otherwise be lacking.
I also love the composition of the piece and the blue layers which lift this piece out of the ordinary.

Oh, and I simply had to favourite this before writing a single word!!!

I’m now going off the hunt for your other cellists…must’ve missed them while we were away.

    AWESOME WORK!!!!!
