Dobson Fly

Dobson Fly

Mixed media: Gouache on collographic monotype

Paper: 300gsm Hahnemulle printmaking paper

First, the collograph was printed intaglio then relief printed a few times over that.
Second, when all the layers of ink were dry, I painted the dobson fly with gouache on top. Gouache is so good for painting over oil based inks. Surprising, no?

Dobson Fly belongs to the following groups:

Birds and Creatures of Flight, Butterflies, Skippers, Moths, & Other Winged Insects (2 a Day), Decorative and Traditional Art, Light In The Darkness, Printmakers and Printmaking and Shadows & Reflections Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Love it! Gouache is great over oil inks. Was very scared to try it – expected it to flake off, but no, brilliant.
