Comfortably Numb
Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anybody home?
Come on, now
I hear you’re feeling down
Well I can ease the pain
Get you on your feet again
…
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown, the dream is gone
But I have become comfortably numb.

Great picture goes perfectly with the song. I might think about this as a new way of painting to songs that make you feel!!

I was so pleased you put this in ADAAWG.. I love this native feel I get here.. I feel more this spirit of what is inside me.. my grandfather was 1/2 Nez Peirce and was hidden from me for a long time.. embarrassed were my family that we had native blood!

cool pic, “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden or “Indians” by Anthrax would go really well with this work too.
“Respect is something that you earn,
Our Indian brothers getting burned,
Original Americans turned into second class citizens,
Forced out- Brave and Mighty,
Stolen Land- They can’t fight it,
Hold on- to pride and tradition
Even though they know how much their lives are really missin`”
-Indians by Anthrax

This is wonderful. Is there watercolour on this?
Marion Chapman replied
Hi Annie. Yes, there is watercolour in this. I used inks and watercolours to create the painting of the face first and then printed over the painting with the man linocut.
thanks for your lovely comments.

Great work here. I like Pink Floyd’s song and also the version Scissor Sisters did too. It’s a good idea basing a painting on a song.
