Bi-plane
Definitely a multi-media job:
Woodblock inked up in red then reinked in black.
Printed biplane with large stencil.
Finally touched up in photoshop.
53 X 37cm

I love this because it looks like tire tracks on the plane… too bad.. after what is going on with the price of oil..soon the planes will have to head on down… .design is very cool

Hi, very nice work.
Technical question please – I am experimenting with stencils, have one cut out of heavy sheet plastic ready-for-action and I wonder what ink delivery method you prefer?
I am thinking of stippling with a brush or dabbing with sponge, any suggestions?
Do you roll through your stencil?
A squeegee seems like it would make a mess because the stencil material is thick – about a 1/16th inch or 1.5cm easy – and it would let too much ink trap in the edges.
Spray cans?

Hi Edward
My stencil was made of two sheets of cartridge paper – the thinner the stencil is the better as it stays still in the press and there is less chance of ink moving under it.
I placed the stencil on the woodblock, laid my artwork on top and ran it through the press. Voila!
Thanks for commenting.
