Rebuilding

Watercolour
Original Sold, Oct 08.
Full sheet Arches 300gsm (stretched with nail gun)

Based on a photo of people viewing the construction taking place in Ground Zero.

The viewing platform, inside the American Express Building, was originally a marble wall but was replaced with glass when the building was repaired after 9/11 so that people could come and view the area. The people were respectfully quiet as they look on as the site was being rebuilt.

Speaking as a retired architect, this work is great. Speaking as a watercolorist, this work is great. Glad you could be there to capture the scene.

Superb and imagivative use of watercolour, Marion.

    Especially poignant, concerning the subject.
The predominant 2 colours – primaries of blue and yellow, are particularly visually appealing.

Gorgeous choice of colors and wonderful lines. Hard to believe this is watercolor! You have a great talent. I like your description here and on the View from the AmEx building. They would be interesting posted next to each other. It is moving to see the changes that will rebuild such tragic destruction.

Browsing your wonderful art today, I’m highly impressed with the tastefulness of the collection and, although perhaps this one isn’t exactly typical, it really has a very special quality of hope for the future and deserves a wide audience, I think.

An unusual, yet compelling choice, for a watercolour!
And a good use of the dual colours of yellow and blue.
