Hand painted in watercolour on Arches Aquarelle paper, 180mg. My intention was to draw the larger mouse’s face, but the picture grew and grew………it now feels as if it must have a story attached to it! It portrays that special moment: the first day of school!!

Too very gorgeous Marie! I have this little brown Striped Field mouse that visits my studio every so often, much to Jacko’s consternation, and they look like they could be family! Is there a children’s book in the making somewhere here…?
There never was a story, but I would love to do more illustration. I had a whole range of little naked fairies inspired by aromatherapy oils, thinking they could be labels…….we play, we play!

It reminds me of Beatrix Potter and she was well loved and remembered. It is delightful. Alma
I admire the simplicity of Beatrix Potter’s work. She gave real character and individualism to her little animals!
