I went there to see them and I did see them in the Siemens mountains of the North of Ethiopia. They are really wonderful creatures living in big groups. Very strange meeting which I will not forget!

What a character… Wonderful capture Marieseyes, well done!
Thanks Konstantinos, I have some more to add but i must sort them out as I just came back yesterday. I am glad you like that “character”…But in fact they are very peaceful!
Super, welcome home! For how many days? What National Parks? Was it worth it?
yes, it was worth if you love geladas (Siemens mountains) and birds (about 850 species). Tana Lake was a super spot for birds. Bale mountains were good too for the Ethiopian wolfs and the nyala both endemic to that place. the landscape (4000m was good too).Quiet country, nice people, TERRIFIC roads in the South, clean country and hotels, but many of the best ones are a bit basic, always something broken, and a lot of cut of electricty and water . We were just the 2 with with my husband & a driver, very good one, knows mechanic (important there!!!) his name “Tesfu” and the agency very good “Senait Ethiopia Tour” Tadese Atlaw" dynamic manager e-mail <email@example.com>. We ask for a tailor made trip. Most of people go there for the many tribes in the South (50) but we prefered wildlife. So I think I told you the main things. We did the trip in 18 days (North & south) & it was exhausting, people take more time, but we did, so it’s possibleNow you know nearly everything! I forgot, better to love donkeys, the local “horse” ,and the roads are very busy with animals, more than elsewhere!!! also beautiful clothes. No more, you can dream now…..
Thanks a lot Marieseyes for the info, I guess you had great time there! I have to go to Ethiopia one day… soon. Cheers!
This is really a beautiful image Marie, and so beautifully taken. Excellent detail…lighting…and DOF! This guy looks like he must be one of the leaders. He is so well groomed. A fav for me.
Thanks Ginny, he is one of the leader of the many females, but in spite of his look, he is not aggressive at all, you can walk among the geladas, very near which is good for the pictures
