Networking

people die. the television networks portray death and violence as daily meat and potatoes. consequently, as viewers we have a skewed vision of how horrible the world is. we believe that strangers are killing strangers because we don’t get the backstory. when strangers killing strangers pervades the mindset, we are alienated and fearful of each other. we live in fear of the unforeseeable stranger assault. we look over there while the danger is over here. yes, there is stranger danger as we teach our children, but the people likely to harm children are well known to the child victims.

—for all my child clients who have died at home and who continue to fear those that ‘love’ them.

Hmmm. Wow. It is true that networking has evolved as the internet has grown and flourished. It’s now “mano-a-mano”, i.e., man-to-man over the wire, no intermediary but the binary code that is the social network application and the incredible network of wires and software that carry it.

I meant to add that this is not only a though provoking piece, but it looks great, too. :D

thanks. it’s fun to have your thoughts which are so detailed to generate more of my own. typically, my thoughts about the work come after somehow. i enjoy your comments very much. thanks for the time you take

You are right, parents are the number one suspect in child cases yet there is no catchy phrase describing that danger is there? Almost like they have a right…

  • Marie Monroe replied

good point. in my mind, i go right to “perp” for the parents but have nothing for the danger factor except “at risk”. interesting thought

Marie, when I commented on your image, there was no description up yet. I came early. I could only guess at what the painting represented. But once I guessed, I thought that was it, because it seemed so clear (See top.)

I know now, by reading the description that I got it all “wrong”. As a web-application developer and coder, you can imagine where I’m coming from. :))

So, I will now add my comments to this discussion…. The news we never get is the constant emotional and physical abuse that sometimes leads up to the death of a child; and, even if not, inflicts them with pain the rest of their life.

  • Marie Monroe replied

thanks. you know all your comments fit. it’s one of my greatest pleasures to hear what’s evoked. thanks for coming back to add more.

Fabulous piece. Referring to the allegations that Michael Jackson molested
children, I agree with Mark, it was the parent’s greed that compelled them
to visit Neverland Ranch and whatever happened is their responsibility. Having
met the man, he is a big kid himself believing he is Peter Pan. The child’s
parents sent him there to manipulate a vulnerable soul and now have
20 million dollars. What a horrible travesty!! The child lived next door
to my son’s friend and he laughs and finds humor in his irresponsible
and malicious parents’ action. Thanks for sharing a great image and I hope
he rests in peace. People thought he was strange, but as one person
at the memorial said,” what is strange is how people treated him while he was
alive.” Now he is free from his torment and vicious acts perpetuated by
the media and the people who took advantage of “the little prince.” The
book could have been about Michael. A fantastic piece and like you
I hope he rests in peace. I love your nuance adding CBS at the top to
let us know who you probably are referring to.
