erasing the points along pen-tool lines on a layer on top of a gradient layer, when I was happy, I turned the top layer into a brush before deleting that layer, then using the brush to delete everything surrounding the dots on the gradient layer, tadaa
edit; my index finger is still sore from all this dotting with the mouse, need tablet now ;-)
