Amazing work. There’s a great sense of movement .Somehow I feel more harmony in this than separation. It lacs some kind of chaos, disturbtive energy maby… and they’re still holding each other hands so that in a second they would notice that they wont get far from each other.. :-)

Marie – I’ve said before that I really admire the ‘genre’ you seem to be developing, and this certainly does not disappoint. Elegant, atmospheric paintings.
Just one small compositional point. I think the ‘harmony’ you were seeking would have been enhanced if the legs had ‘met’ – or is there something symbolic in this disharmony?
    Excellent work overall

Wonderful and v.clever work Marie – in the version where they are facing away from each other they somehow seem to be more together – in the other one (facing each other) there is far more tension between them, like and impending collision of some sort.
    Outstanding artwork Marie!

mufa- it’s more me being indecisive actually. I started out painting them as a couple dancing together, and then thought maybe it would be better if they are facing eachother, then liked the idea of being able to put them either way, depeding on your mood. Initially I did plan to paint the legs overlapping onto the partners canvas, and the canvases also has deep edges and the paint wraps around (which you obviously can’t see on a digital reproduction) so that the womans foot is pretty much finished on her canvas already and in real life I would hang them further apart that they are in this format.
I’ve had these two finished for a long time without being able to make my mind up whether I should paint them overlapping or not, and to be honest I am still not all sure which way to go ; – )
they also turned out to mean a lot more to me personally this way, whether it is more visually and compositionally pleasing or not, whcih is why I decided to put them up without painting in the whole legs overlapping, so to finish my ramblings, yes, unintentionally there is a lot of symbolism in both the tearing away and in the potential collision

@ Ilmari, thank you, that is a lovley way to look at it, that soon they will realize they are getting too far from eachother. I like it and I hope it is true in life
