Goddess
oil on canvas, original size 30×90 cm
taken me months to finish this one, my first attempt at real glazing, usually I finish a painting pretty much within a few days, and perhaps go back to it a few weeks later to add something. With this one I really tried laying down thinner layers of paint, and used yellows on top of the blue background to paint the green leaves. A little bit of cheating with green for the darker part of the leaves instead of more blue, I was too impatient again…. I have a concept drawing in my sketchpad at the moment that I will try out for glazing, think I’ll go and get myself some acrylics for the base layer first ; – )

Available for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

The colours are so rich and vibrant. It was well worth the time to glaze it. What a goddess!

Ah! technique, technique, technique.
I really like everything about this painting – especially the composition and the juxtaposition of the intense eyes and the whimsical leaves and colours.

Well done Marie – The colours really glow and the modelling on the head is beautifully done. I love the vertical format. The painting has the look and feel of a highly accomplished finished work. The time and effort you have put into this really shows. Wonderful painting, full of suggestion. Great work!
