Working in traditional mediums, pastels, oil, ceramics.Using these mediums I seek to express my surroundings by weaving a tapestry of colours through my work and seeking the abstract within.
This is lovely Maria, it’s great to see your work again :)
HI Edy, thankyou I hope to get a run of them in the next few months!

thanks so much Jolante
The colours are absolutlely beautiful Maria! What was it like using the Colourfix Suede surface? Did you need to blend with makeup sponges/fingers, or did it take multiple layers of pastel like the sanded version does?
HI Terri, thanks so much. In regards to using this paper, it doesnt take a lot of layers and its not as forgiving as the rough colourfix. You have to be carefull with those first layers, and I found the harder pastels worked better on the surface than the soft.. I originally bought it for my miniature life drawings where i use pastel pencils and hard pastels..So Id stick to the ordinary colourfix with the soft pastels..
Beauties these are well done. Liz
thanks so much Liz:)
Gorgeous composition and beautiful use of color Maria! I’m always inspired by your pastels.
Thanks so much Laura, im glad you enjoyed this one.. Ive been revisiting my previous still life work and seeing what can come out of that style..
wow! Maria! absolutely beautiful, vibrant work!! :)
thanks so much Carol
wonderful as usual – your stle works so well with outlined flowerrs and patterns
thanks so much susan, yes the paper is fun to work with in that way..
You are soooooooo good! This is really wonderful Maria. I have a sheet of ‘suede’ which a local art shop proprietor asked me to try and then give some feedback, so your remarks to Terri are very interesting. I haven’t used it yet!!! I am thinking it would be a bit like velour, and I have never been able to get on with that! Your Ginger Flowers worked out beautifully.
thanks so much Lynda, the suede is really a paper for fine detail work, thick soft pastels dont like it much but I use it for my miniature life drawings, but it did have a lovely texture with this biggerwork.. Use hard pastels for an easier outcome..
This is so beautiful and the colours are so fresh. Maria, I love it! I used colourfix suede on the portrait of my son “Oliver” and I didn’t like it as much, I couldn’t use the pastels are thickly as I usually do.
thanks Martha, im glad you thinks so, ive had a lot of comments about the suede, see above. I probably wont use it again except for my miniatures..
