Splendid counterpoint of the water outdoors sliding down the pane of glass, and indoors held within a glass container. It’s as if the water had been separated from itself and now is prevented from rejoining itself. … But then again, as really good art often invites more than one response, perhaps the water in the vase is safe and content, and the water outside envies that safety and contentment, and would, if it could, leak into the room and into the vase. … I would say that the water in the vase might, for its part, want to escape to the freedom of outdoors, but the rain on the windowpane so traditionally suggests sadness that I’m deterred from that view. … You’ve conjured a little gem of theatre here, Marianna, a theatre of inanimate objects – inanimate in themselves and further frozen into inanimation by your camera – BUT: your camera has granted them, or at least implied for them, animate desires and animate life, albeit that this life is circumscribed by circumstance.
This is the best story about my photo ever… Thank you, Peter! You know, I bet if you’ll decide at some point to have a second profession after being a writer- you could be a great psychologist (of course these two have much in common)!!!! To say I love this comment is not enough… I LOVE it!
