Encaustic on card. Worked with iron and stylus.
Oh wow!That is gorgeous!
…This may seem a silly question, but what is Encaustic? i’ve never heard of it.
Encaustic is an ancient technique that was first used by the Egyptians to decorate their tombs. Molten pigmented beeswax is used rather than conventional paint. These days we have electric heated tools, the main one being a flat iron (similar to a travel iron) which you use to iron the wax onto special card, which creates wonderful and imaginitive patterns. That’s when ones own imagination takes over and you can create wonderful vibrant paintings. It’s a challenging technique to get right but once you can make the wax do what you want it to do, you can create so many different types of painting. I don’t use any other type of paint these days and am trying to promote it as an artform wherever I can.
